Product Legal Brief
Gift Cards · Smart Meals · Prime · Prime Plus
Effective / last updated: 3 September 2026
Purpose
This brief summarises how iDeliver's Gift Cards and related products work under Nigerian commercial practice: closed-loop store credit (not cash-out e-money), customer-facing terms published on this site, and treatment of unused unclaimed value. The full product terms live in our Terms of Service and related data practices in our Privacy Policy.
What we shipped
Customers pay → receive a 16-digit card + PIN → redeem once into the iDeliver wallet → spend on iDeliver orders (food, grocery, parcel, meals, Anything). The same Gift Card product is available in the app and the official WhatsApp and Telegram bots.
Customers cannot:
- withdraw to a bank, NUBAN, mobile money, or cash;
- transfer wallet credit to another user after claim;
- buy another Gift Card, Prime, or Prime Plus with gift-origin wallet credit;
- enter the code at checkout (bearer checkout codes are out of scope — redeem once into the wallet, then pay as usual).
Admin will not deduct or pay out a wallet that still holds gift-origin credit. Unclaimed cards expire 12 months after purchase (admin-configurable). After claim, redeemed gift-origin credit does not currently expire unless we later publish a change in the Terms.
Corporate bulk issue requires company, invoice, and KYC/AML references and may skip consumer velocity caps.
Closed-loop store credit (not e-money)
An iDeliver Gift Card is closed-loop store credit: a prepaid right to buy eligible goods and services on iDeliver only. It is not cash, a bank deposit, mobile money, electronic money, or a payment instrument that can be cashed out.
A closed-loop instrument that can only be spent on iDeliver, cannot be withdrawn, and cannot be transferred after claim is ordinarily treated as commercial gift / store credit, not a stored-value wallet that pays out. Allowing payout would look like e-money and may require a licence. Corporate bulk programmes should follow AML/KYC for large invoices (EFCC / SCUML where applicable).
Customer terms (live copy)
The public product policy covering Gift Cards, Smart Meals (Alerts + Autopilot), Prime, and Prime Plus is published in Terms → Product Terms and Policy.
Short checkout / bot copy (Gift Cards):
iDeliver Gift Cards are store credit for iDeliver orders only. After redeem they sit in your wallet and can be spent on food, grocery, parcel, meals, and Anything. They cannot be withdrawn to a bank, NUBAN, mobile money, or cash. Unclaimed cards expire 12 months after purchase. Gift cards cannot be used to buy another gift card, Prime, or Prime Plus. Non-refundable except for failed delivery or as required by law.
Never buy a gift card because someone on WhatsApp, Instagram, or SMS asked you to. iDeliver will never demand a gift card as payment.
Unused value (breakage)
Money received for a Gift Card is held as store-credit liability, not as an immediate sale of food. When redeemed, it remains liability in the wallet until spent on an eligible order. When an unclaimed card expires, remaining face value is unused store credit (breakage) and is not paid out to a bank or the customer.
Order refunds paid with wallet (including gift-origin credit) return to the iDeliver wallet, not to a bank account number. Exceptional Gift Card purchase refunds (failed delivery that cannot be resent, gateway reversal, or where Nigerian law requires) go to the original payment method where the gateway allows.
